Vineyard: Steels Gate Vineyard, Pinot Noir block. Situated at 230m above sea level, planted in the early 1980’s on an undulating, south-west facing slope on friable grey loam soils. Completely unirrigated.

Winemaking: 100% handpicked on 01 April 2011. De-stemmed and given a 3hr cold soak, before pressing and overnight juice settling. Fermented and matured in seasoned French oak barriques with wild yeasts and wild malolactic bacteria. Sulfured in August 2011, and matured on full ferment lees for a further 4 months. Bottled 09 January 2012.

Tasting notes: Inspired by the South of France, warm cobblestones, chargrilled calamari, friends and laughter. Pale salmon/onion skin in colour, with an intriguing nose of cranberries, red cherries, rosehips, strawberries and cream and fermentation complexity.

The palate is creamy, textural and complex, with a savoury and minerally backbone, with a long, bone-dry finish.

11.6% alcohol/ 6.9 std drinks
